Bills’ Keon Coleman puts everything into perspective with powerful message just moments after Week 1 win vs. Ravens
Keon Coleman didn’t hold back.
The Buffalo Bills had their last home opener in Highmark Stadium, and what a fitting way to say goodbye to the stadium. Buffalo came back from down 15 points with Josh Allen driving the team down the field for Matt Prater to sink a game-winning field goal. An improbable and electric victory that the Bills Mafia won’t soon forget.
One of the players of the night was Keon Coleman, a rising star in the Bills’ offense who is looking to take an important next step in 2025. He did exactly that, coming up huge in big moments, and finished his day with eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Speaking with Matt Parino, Bills beat reporter for Syracuse.com, immediately after the game, Coleman left the world with a powerful message about the victory, saying that while the team is happy, the job is far from finished.
Coleman’s message after dominant performance vs. Ravens
“To me, it’s another game,” Coleman said. “For us, the NFL, a lot of one-score games out here so every win is a big win, no matter what team name across they chest, we trying to win it. And for us, like I said, it’s another win. It is a good win because they’re on our side, and you know, historically we both be in the playoffs and have to beat each other to get to the big dance. It’s a great Week 1 win, and showed a lot of fight in us.”
For Coleman, it was about the work he put in this offseason, building that chemistry with Allen and taking his game to a new level. While it’s only the first game, Coleman was targeted heavily, including some of the biggest moments of the game.
“The work we put in the offseason and during camp, just showing up,” Coleman said. “The trust that he put into me, and like I said, the hard work we put in. The reps, the mental reps in the classroom. On the field, after practice, just coming to fruition.”
The second-year receiver was asked about his mindset and the team’s on the sideline when everything had unfolded. For Coleman and the Bills, there was never a doubt that they could come back and seal the victory. Even providing the word of the year—execution.
“Really, man, we just took one play, that’s all it was. We’ll keep chipping away, keep chipping away. As long as there’s time on the clock, we feel we have a chance to win it. So, that’s all it is. Go out there and word of the year — execution. Gotta execute.”
Coleman gives high praise to Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson after the win
The receiver set the team up in field goal range after burning his defender, Jaire Alexander, for a monster 25-yard gain late in the contest. Coleman wanted to make sure that QB1 gets his flowers. Allen wasn’t the only quarterback he complimented, showing praise for the two-time MVP in Lamar Jackson.
“Again, kudos to Josh. It was all his work, he seen the coverage, broke it down, made a check. I ran the route, made the play, and won from there. Had to get down, we didn’t want Lamar back with the ball again, you know, we were at the end going out on our terms with the ball in our hands. Get down, kick the field goal, that’s it, go home.”
Dion Dawkins told the league before the season began that they better get ready for Keon Coleman. After just one game, we think that he’s absolutely right. Still a lot of things to correct, and a lot of football to be played, but what an incredible farewell to Highmark Stadium and the fans that love the team so much, even if a few dipped out before witnessing the epic comeback.
