Bills’ latest injury report gives fans cause for concern ahead of upcoming Week 8 matchup against the Carolina Panthers
Not the update fans were hoping to hear.
The Buffalo Bills are battling through injury, despite just having a bye week.
Heading into Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers, the Buffalo Bills are looking a little shorthanded, with plenty of time to get back on track. Several key playmakers on both sides of the football either did not practice or were practicing on a limited basis.
One positive update is that rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston is progressing well, though the team most likely will not utilize him until Week 10, as his 21-day practice window was just opened.
Still, having Hairston back at practice is a welcome addition to a defensive backfield that could definitely use some more juice. Cornerback Christian Benford has taken a step back, and veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White has struggled in coverage.
Buffalo Bills Thursday Injury Report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| LB Terrel Bernard | Ankle | Limited/Limited | |
| CB Maxwell Hairston | Knee | Limited/Limited | |
| DT DaQuan Jones | Calf | DNP/DNP | |
| TE Dalton Kincaid | Oblique | Limited/Limited | |
| LB Matt Milano | Pectoral | Limited/Limited | |
| WR Joshua Palmer | Knee/Ankle | DNP/DNP | |
| S Taylor Rapp | Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| WR Curtis Samuel | Ribs | Limited/Limited |
On the offensive side, receiver Curtis Samuel and tight end Dalton Kincaid were limited. Kincaid was ruled out against the Atlanta Falcons with the same oblique injury, but has since been out of his red non-contact jersey, which should have fans excited about his potential return. As for Samuel, it’s yet another injury during his short career with the Bills.
Furthermore, receiver Josh Palmer is considered week-to-week while dealing with a knee and ankle injury, and his status remains questionable for Week 8 against the Panthers.
The defense is getting back some big names in edge rusher Michael Hoecht and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi will look to take an increased role off the rip, with defensive tackle DaQuan Jones considered week-to-week with a calf injury.
Both starting linebackers Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard were limited, and safety Taylor Rapp didn’t practice for the second straight day. A couple of key playmakers on the defensive side missing some time ahead of the contest gives fans plenty of cause for concern.
Perhaps with Rapp injured, we could see more of veteran safety Jordan Poyer or even rookie safety Jordan Hancock, who impressed during the preseason, and the Bills Mafia is clamoring for him to get more chances in the defensive backfield.
All that’s left to do is wait, and we won’t have to wait long, as the team has one more injury report releasing on Friday, which will provide some more concrete updates on a slew of players listed.
