The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are set for action in Week 9 of the NFL season. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year, as the two teams have one of the best rivalries in sports. Led by superstar quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, it’s the definition of must-see television.

Leading up to the game, rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston opened up on what he’s trying to accomplish in the contest. It’s no small feat taking on Mahomes and the Chiefs in his second NFL game, but the rookie appears ready for the challenge ahead.

Hairston is turning heads with his admission about wanting to pick off Mahomes in the game. Some lofty goals for the talented young defender, and one that Bills Mafia would more than love to see come to fruition in the matchup.

“The opportunity to be able to pick off Patrick Mahomes, that’s all I’m looking forward to,” Hairston said. “Just going out there and like I said, just not making it bigger than what it is, just go out there and play ball.”

Hairston was a surprise activation against the Carolina Panthers

Hairston was quickly elevated to the 53-man roster after just a few practices with the team. He hadn’t practiced since July 29 after suffering a non-contact knee injury. Even head coach Sean McDermott said that fans would need to temper expectations about when Hairston would be able to return.

Fans wouldn’t have to wait long, though, as Hairston played in his first NFL action against the Carolina Panthers, coming up with a huge tackle in the contest, erasing concerns about his injury and availability moving forward.

If Hairston can follow through on his bold words, it could be a defining moment in his young career and a major boost for a Bills defense looking to make a statement on one of football’s biggest stages.
