The Buffalo Bills aren’t getting star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, at least that’s what it sounds like from the superstar’s latest social media post. It was always unlikely that Crosby would be joining the team, but now it appears it’s definitive that he will not be donning the blue and red of the Buffalo Bills.

It’s been a whirlwind for Crosby, after initially being traded to the Baltimore Ravens for a handful of first-round picks. In an unprecedented turn of events, Crosby allegedly failed his physical, and the Ravens backed out of the deal, quickly signing Trey Hendrickson instead.

With all the emotion that went into the decision, Crosby took to social media with a message for the Las Vegas Raiders fans, indicating that he would be running it back with them next season.

“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. I’m A Raider. I’m Back. Run That (expletive).”

Buffalo was rumored to be in the running for Crosby

The Bills had been named as one of the teams in the running to land the edge rusher before he agreed to join the Baltimore Ravens. While there had been some slim chances for the Bills to re-engage, Crosby made it clear that he’s going back to the Raiders for at least the next season.

NFL Insiders shared the update that the Bills had dropped out of the running before Crosby’s statement on Wednesday, with NFL Network Insider Cameron Wolfe sharing that the Bills decided not to take another run at a trade after the first one had been rejected.

“The cap situation may be too difficult to make it work [ . . . ] what they may have had a few weeks ago is not what they currently have,” Wolfe said.

For Buffalo, the dream of pairing Crosby with the defensive front was always going to be an insanely big long shot. The cap situation alone makes the math brain scramble, even in the interest was real early on in the process.

Now that Crosby has made his stance crystal clear, the Bills will need to turn their attention elsewhere to bolster the pass rush. The recent acquisition of Bradley Chubb was indeed a strong first step, but if Buffalo wants to keep pace in the AFC, general manager Brandon Beane may still have another move up his sleeve.

Even if Crosby won’t be wearing a Bills uniform, the message is clear: the Bills are looking for ways to get better at getting after the quarterback in 2026.
