The Buffalo Bills haven’t been big buyers during the first two days of the NFL legal tampering period, but that’s not to say that moves aren’t on the way. The team has plenty of needs heading into this offseason, and Buffalo just freed up some much-needed cap space by restructuring the contract of quarterback Josh Allen. It saves the team around $12 million toward the cap with the move.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Bills legend and former center Mitch Morse. During the interview, I asked Morse what one move he would make this offseason if he had a magic wand and was the Buffalo Bills general manager. For Morse, it was simple: go get Maxx Crosby.

“Here’s my magic wand, you ready? Maxx Crosby,” Morse said. “Maxx Crosby, and I would say overspend if you’re going to overspend. Of course, don’t give them the kitchen sink because we still have to play football here. I’ve never seen a more relentless competitor in person. I think his productivity speaks for itself.”

Mitch Morse wants the Buffalo Bills to go get Maxx Crosby

Morse hit the nail on the head with his selection. Crosby would be a huge boost to defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard’s defense, and Crosby’s production does speak for itself.

In seven years, Crosby’s played in 110 games with one interception, 29 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 69.5 sacks, and 439 combined tackles. He had another 10 sack performance in 2025, despite the team shutting him down and not having him play football, which was wild to see.

Crosby shook up the NFL landscape late on Tuesday after it was reported that the deal fell through with the Baltimore Ravens, meaning that his pricetag could now have gone down. It’s a perfect time for the Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane to strike.

Go get Crosby, any means necessary. I mean, just look at the film for this monster of an athlete.

Maxx Crosby and the Raiders have a strained relationship

Speaking of disgruntled, Morse pointed out that it’s exactly what Crosby might be feeling, while also discussing just how important it is to build in the trenches. The Super Bowl was the perfect example, and something that Buffalo should try to build through free agency and the draft.

“You see a guy whose disgruntled with his current organization because they shut him down,” Morse said. “I mean, you talk about hardwired the right way. He’s hardwired the right way; he would be an exceptional Buffalo Bill. And I believe more than anything that what makes a difference in this league is defensive presence and defensive line presence. I might be incredibly biased because I’m an offensive lineman, but you have the edge pressure and, of course, the interior pressure as well. Just look at the Super Bowl, right? Two teams that represented the AFC and NFC had extremely stout defensive lines.”

Whether or not Crosby dons the blue and red of the Buffalo Bills remains to be seen, but Morse’s point is hard to ignore. If Buffalo wants to get over the hump, building a dominant defensive front has to be part of the equation.

With new cap space in hand and a front office that has been aggressive in the past when the moment calls for it, the Bills might not be done making noise just yet.
