While the Buffalo Bills quarterback was not able to get past the Kansas City Chiefs and make it to the Super Bowl, he got another very important prize on Thursday night.
Allen was named the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season, beating out Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson

Allen finished the regular season with 307 completions (63.6%) for 3,731 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns, along with 102 carries for 531 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. In the playoffs, he added an additional 58 completions (70.7%) for 636 passing yards and four passing touchdowns along with 29 carries for 105 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Enough said.
And A to Z Sports' Bills reporter Jon Helmkamp knew that, despite everyone saying this was Jackson's year, Allen deserved the award.
"The problem with the MVP discourse this season is that it's starkly different from last year, when Jackson brought home the award despite Allen having better counting stats. This year, Allen's counting stats are behind Jackson's, and suddenly many voices want to give it to Jackson for the stats.
Well, which is it?
Last year, Allen should have won it. I will hang my hat on that and will argue it repeatedly. This year, despite not having quite the same stats as Jackson, I believe it's Allen's year again," he wrote.
The Associated Press agreed.
This is the first MVP award of Allen's career, but it won't be the last. A well-deserved honor for one of the best players in the game.
