Patriots’ Stefon Diggs is turning heads with what he said about the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen ahead of Super Bowl appearance
Stefon Diggs had plenty to say about Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs always has a lot to say. This time, it’s nothing but love from the former Buffalo Bills wide receiver.
During the media availability portion, as his team prepares for the upcoming Super Bowl, Diggs was speaking when the topic of the Buffalo Bills came up.
From a player who left on bad terms, he’s turning heads with his honest and kind remarks for the beloved fan base, the Bills Mafia, and quarterback Josh Allen. A surprising turn of events from the former disgruntled receiver. What was most surprising was his admission about wishing that things might’ve been different, since he was such a driving factor in his own trade out of One Bills Drive.
“To my Buffalo fans, listen. I love ya’ll,” Diggs said. “I know I’m far gone, but I do miss ya’ll. I’ve built a great relationship with ya’ll. Keep hanging your hat on that quarterback; that quarterback is a Hall of Fame quarterback. Parts of me wish things were different. I do got a lot of love and respect for that team.”
Diggs gives his flowers to the Bills Mafia and Josh Allen
The veteran receiver, over and over, shared that he has nothing but love for the fan base and the organization, giving Bills Mafia their flowers. In Diggs’ mind, the fan base isn’t the best in the world, but a top three, and from him, that’s a big win.
“Even when Gabe Davis went back, I was talking to Gabe, I was like, ‘Look at you go. Ya’ll getting the band back together, where’s Cole Beasley at?’ So I mean, I know they’re not huge fans of me at this point,” Diggs said. “But, for me, I appreciate that. I got a lot of love and respect for that organization and that fan base. One of the craziest fan bases in the world. Probably one of the best, I give them top three. I’m rocking with my guys right now, always got to rock with my guys.”
Maybe Diggs is turning a new leaf during his time in New England. While his time in Buffalo was electric, it was marred by off-field frustrations that ultimately led to his being traded, with Buffalo eating a large portion of dead cap to make it happen.
It seems like Diggs wants to move on and hopefully, one day mend the broken relationship between him, the Bills, and the fans.
“It definitely one of the best fanbases,” Diggs said. “I got a lot of love and respect. Hopefully one day we can hug it out.”
Whether Bills Mafia is ready to embrace that sentiment is another question entirely. Time has a way of softening wounds, though, and Digg’s words felt genuine and not calculated.
For a player once seen as a villain in Buffalo, even the hint of humility and appreciation is notable. If nothing else, it serves as a reminder that despite how things ended, the connection between Diggs, the Bills, and the fan base was very real, and maybe not completely gone for good.
