It's no secret that the Buffalo Bills need a second consistent receiving option. Aside from Stefon Diggs, there has been a major gap between WR1 and the remaining options.
Diggs was targeted over 60 times more than the next player. Even with Isaiah McKenzie's improvement as a slot weapon and Gabriel Davis's deep play abilities, the Bills need more consistency at the receiver position.
It could even come from an emerging AFC rival in the Cincinnati Bengals with WR Tee Higgins.
To be fair, this rumor hasn't been verified from the primary source and it wouldn't make much sense for one AFC contender to trade one of their best players to another AFC contender.
However, a trade for Higgins would actually make some sense.
The Bengals will begin contract negotiations for QB Joe Burrow and have the next three seasons of WR Ja'Marr Chase under a rookie deal. Higgins has firmly established himself as a high-end WR2 in the NFL, but that could price him out of Cincinnati.
If Buffalo were to complete this trade, it would likely include a first. Though not to the same degree as the Tyreek Hill trade.
A first outright, or a pair of day two (second and third rounds) picks might be enough if it were possible.
Higgins 74 catches for 1,029 yards and seven touchdowns would all be second only to Diggs on the Bills. However, his yards after the catch and average depth of target are near identical. Meaning not only does he get open in the same depth of the field as Diggs, but makes a similar impact with the ball once it's caught.
Time will tell if the Buffalo Bills ever get their chance at a second premiere playmaker, but it's not too far outside the realm of possibility.
