UPDATE: Tuesday 5:57 p.m. EDT: Per the NFL wire, the team brought in a host of defensive tackle prospects. Defensive tackles Tommy Akingbesote, Keondre Coburn, Raekwon Davis, and Ben Stille were brought in for a tryout, a clear sign the team is ferociously attacking a position of need.

The Buffalo Bills aren’t wasting any time after it’s been confirmed that defensive tackle Ed Oliver is out indefinitely with a biceps injury. Oliver gave fans a sliver of hope, taking to Instagram that he would be back if the Bills make it to the Super Bowl.

Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed the injury news on Monday, while also adding that he and general manager Brandon Beane would be looking at all options for the defensive tackle position moving forward. Bills Mafia didn’t have to wait for at least one of the moves with the latest update from the organization.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Week 9 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills have signed safety Jordan Poyer and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the active roster. Buffalo was a little banged up at the defensive tackle position, with Larry Ogunjobi and Deone Walker being the only healthy players at the position heading into the matchup.

Rookie defensive tackle T.J. Sanders is still on injured reserve, and fellow defensive tackle DaQuan Jones is still battling through injury but is progressing well; his status for Sunday remains undetermined.

Jordan Phillips and Jordan Poyer signed to the active roster; it just made sense

The move makes perfect sense for these two players specifically, as Phillips was out of practice-squad elevations after being called up three times, and Poyer only had one more call-up remaining. Two veteran spots open on the practice squad while the Bills have officially filled out their 53-man roster with the signings of Poyer and Phillips.

Poyer and Phillips are fan-favorites among Bills Mafia circles, after spending a chunk of their careers with the team, and then leaving, before ultimately coming back home to Buffalo.

With familiar faces like Poyer and Phillips in the mix, the Bills are turning to players who already know what it means to fight for the team.

As the matchup with Kansas City looms, Buffalo is counting on veteran leadership to help steady the defense in Oliver’s absence and set the tone for a tough battle ahead.
