The Buffalo Bills dominated the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 to the tune of a 40-9 victory. After two consecutive losses and the bye week, the team needed a statement win, and that’s exactly what they got. The star of the show, outside of running back James Cook, was the defense’s ability to bring down quarterback Andy Dalton, forcing several turnovers.

The first and potentially biggest turnover was forced by rising star Greg Rousseau. He chased down Dalton from behind, forcing the fumble. After the game, Rousseau spoke with Cameron Wolfe, national NFL reporter for NFL Network, about his performance and the upcoming showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rousseau was asked what the biggest factor would be in determining who would win next week’s matchup, heading into perhaps the most highly anticipated matchup of the season.

“Same thing today, it’s all about every week,” Rousseau said. “Control the line of scrimmage, starting fast and punching somebody in the mouth. That’s what it’s all about.”

Greg Rousseau had a huge game against the Carolina Panthers

Rousseau finished with three tackles, one sack, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. He was all over the field and was asked about the team bouncing back, especially on defense.

“Just wanted to bounce back, kinda get back to doing what we know we do, what we believe in, it’s coming off the ball up front,” Rousseau said. “All of us kind of just trusting the keys and playing hard, and we got back to that today.”

The talented pass rusher broke down how he forced a fumble on Dalton early in the matchup, swinging the momentum in Buffalo’s favor.

“Really, I just went speed to power, and then the guard kind of pushed me,” Rousseau said. “I kind of countered back. I was going to make the tackle at first, but I saw that he was in front, and I saw he didn’t see me, so I just went for the stealth punch, punched it out, trying to help the team win.”

That’s when Rousseau put everything into perspective. The team had six sacks, the most in a game since 2023. He was asked about the defensive line’s mentality heading into the matchup, and Rousseau offered a perfect response.

“We’re just doing what we’ve been coached on all year,” Rousseau mentioned. “Trusting and falling back on everything, all of our training since training camp. It went well for us. We gotta keep it going. We can’t get complacent, can’t get too high or too low, keep it going.”

Rousseau’s message was clear: Buffalo’s defensive front plans to bring that same relentless energy into the Kansas City game. If the Bills want to knock off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, it’ll start with the same “punch them in the mouth” mentality that Rousseau preached.
