The defense had its fair share of issues throughout the game, but once again, they showed up where it mattered most in the crucial parts of the game. While only able to sack Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler once through three and a half quarters, the last series saw the Bills sack him twice to end the game. Another day, another forced fumble by defensive end Joey Bosa.

However, it’s what happened right before the first half ended that has Bills Mafia more than a little fired up.

That’s when none other than safety Cole Bishop made the play of the game with a one-handed interception, the first of his career. Immediately after the game, Bishop not only got some kudos from the head coach as a surprise but also received quite the praise from team captain and linebacker Terrel Bernard.

“Yeah, it was a huge play, huge play. The first thing I told him was he saved points. They had a field goal that was coming up, possibly a touchdown there. Play that really changed the game, so that’s what I told him. He’s fought his way to get to this point. Get his feet settled in a little bit and get comfortable. He’s going to continue to get better and do what he needs to do to provide value to the team. Just super happy for him, he’s a guy that worked his ass off the last couple of years, and I’m glad he was able to make a play.

The Saints were marching down the field (no pun intended), and since New Orleans was set to receive the ball at halftime, the team could have double-dipped and put Buffalo in a really tough spot. Bishop made sure to crush the Saints’ dreams of scoring points with a SportsCenter Top 10-worthy interception.

Sean McDermott shows love for Bishop postgame

As is tradition, the Buffalo Bills’ social media department shared a video from inside the locker room after the victory, with head coach Sean McDermott delivering a speech and handing out game balls. For his performance and first NFL interception, Bishop was praised.

Before jumping into his shoutouts, McDermott shared an important message after the victory that all of Bills Mafia can get behind.

“Love it, hey man. That’s a big-time win at home,” McDermott said. “Great freaking job, man. Proud of you guys, give yourself a round of applause. Listen, you got, I’m serious, man, you gotta celebrate it. I know we’re better and we will be better, right? It’s a great reminder that we’ve got work to do and we got to stay humble every week, but you have to celebrate these wins cause they are hard to come by.

“They’re hard to come by, man, and we figured a way to win, and that’s the important piece,” McDermott continued. “Offense, defense, special teams, at the end of the day in the second half we started playing together, not in the first half as much but in the second half we started playing together. You see how hard you are to beat.

“Alright, let’s celebrate a couple of things, number one,” McDermott added. “Your freaking will to win, man, it’s incredible. Great job, Josh Allen.”

That’s when McDermott turned his attention to Bishop, with a huge round of applause from his teammates and a hug from the head coach himself

“Cole Bishop, first NFL interception,” McDermott said while giving him a hug. You could hear his teammates shouting “one-handed” when referring to the interception.

Buffalo remains undefeated with a showdown against its division rival in the New England Patriots, in Week 5. The team is already atop the AFC and the only unbeaten team in the division; a victory over the Patriots will allow the team to build an even bigger lead in the AFC East.

Finding ways to win, no matter how ugly they may seem, is what truly
