Bills rising star is turning heads across the league and provides Buffalo a massive boost ahead of Week 4 showdown vs. Saints
The Buffalo Bills may have a superstar on their hands, through the first three weeks.
The Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints are set to face off in Week 4 of the NFL season, with Buffalo looking to remain undefeated and atop the AFC East. Meanwhile, New Orleans is desperately trying to avoid collapse after being winless through the first three weeks.
Ahead of the matchup, Bills rising star tight end Dalton Kincaid received some love from the national media, being called a surprise and alluding to being a breakout candidate due to his strong performance in the early stages of the 2025 season.
All offseason and training camp, the talk of the town was how good Kincaid has looked in the offense. It’s not dissimilar to the previous offseason, where Kincaid was turning heads with his abilities on the football field. Through three weeks, the former first-round pick seems to have found his footing and has been one of the top options in the Bills’ high-powered offense.
Bleacher Report released an article discussing the biggest surprises of the early stages of the NFL season. For the AFC East, it’s the rise of Kincaid. The third-year tight end has made an impact through three games with no signs of slowing down, even surpassing wide receiver Khalil Shakir with his on-field performance, something that Bleacher Report highlighted in its article.
“It’s not as though we shouldn’t have expected the 2023 first-round pick to continue to trend upward in his third season, but few likely imagined he’d have more targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns than Khalil Shakir as we approach the end of September.” — Bleacher Report
Dalton Kincaid looks like a breakout candidate in 2025
In the win against the Miami Dolphins, Kincaid was all over the field and led the team in receiving yards. He finished his day with five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown reception. Kincaid had his fingertips on what would’ve been his second touchdown of the night, but wasn’t able to haul in the pass.
Nevertheless, Kincaid’s emergence on the offense in 2025 has been a sight to behold. In just the first few games, he’s already tied his career-best for touchdowns in a season with two, and plenty more football to be played. Buffalo’s gameplan with its tight ends has been a nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators to plan against.
Rookie Jackson Hawes and veteran Dawson Knox, paired with Kincaid, have helped Buffalo not only be successful in the run game with their blocking abilities, but have also shown to be reliable weapons for the offense as well.
It wasn’t just Kincaid who found the end zone, as Hawes scored his first NFL touchdown on a shovel pass from quarterback Josh Allen.
While the emphasis is on the rise and breakout of Kincaid through the early stages, the entire tight end group and offensive coordinator Joe Brady deserve their flowers as well for the success they’ve seen on the football field.
If Kincaid’s hot start is any indication, Buffalo may have found its newest offensive weapon to lean on as it pushes to stay unbeaten.
