Bills head coach Sean McDermott provided an injury update on starting safety Jordan Poyer on Sunday.
Poyer, who suffered a hyperextended elbow in training camp on August 2nd, is expected to play in the regular season opener on the road against the Los Angeles Rams.
“We’re trending in that direction,” said McDermott on his Pro Bowl safety’s availability. ”I’d be surprised if he isn’t (able to play.)”
The Bills will already be undermanned in the defensive backfield. Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tredavious White is opening the season on the physical unable to perform (PUP) list as he continues to rehab his ACL injury, which he suffered last November.
Poyer did not play in any of the Bills’ three preseason games, which was a cause for concern for most Bills fans. However, McDermott’s latest comments should put Bills Mafia at ease.
