Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid is already looking a bit banged up heading into the 2026 season. The latest report from head coach Joe Brady does nothing to ease the minds of fans, who are worried that Kincaid’s injury will linger into next season, forcing him to miss some time.

The Buffalo Bills have a superstar on their hands with tight end Dalton Kincaid. When he and quarterback Josh Allen connect on the field, magic happens. He’s one of the best weapons Allen and the offense have, and fans are hoping he continues his trajectory in 2026 to help lead Buffalo to its first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

That’s not to say Kincaid is without his faults, though. Injuries are the name of the game, and Kincaid has been inactive on more than one occasion while dealing with a nagging knee injury. It’s a frustrating update when one of your star players isn’t able to get out on the field and compete.

Fortunately, it’s the offseason, and Kincaid should be back fully healthy and ready to light the league on fire, right? Well, not so fast. It’s looking as though Kincaid’s injury might already impact the 2026 season after the latest update from new head coach Joe Brady.

According to Tim Graham from The Athletic, Brady acknowledged that “load management remains a possibility for frequently injured tight end Dalton Kincaid in 2026.”

A less-than-ideal update for Dalton Kincaid ahead of the 2026 season

A lingering PCL injury may force Kincaid to miss even more time in 2026. The talented former first-round pick has missed nine games over the last two seasons, including five in 2025. Even when he has been on the field, you can tell he hasn’t been 100 percent.

Brady also acknowledged that Kicnaid had a snap count in some games last season, limiting him to solely passing downs, which made the offense just a tad bit more predictable. He just needs to find a way to get healthy and contribute.

Buffalo has high hopes for the talented tight end, picking up the fifth-year option for Kincaid and signaling their faith in the pass catcher, and locking up a reliable weapon for Allen through the 2027 season.

None of it matters if he’s not on the field.

The Buffalo Bills can talk about long-term belief and plans all they want, but 2026 is shaping up to be a prove-it year for Kincaid. If he can finally shake the injury bug, he has all the tools to be a difference-maker in this offense. If not, Buffalo may be forced to start asking some uncomfortable questions about one of its most important weapons.
