Bills standout cashes in, but a favorable NFL rule means the team avoids any salary cap impact with it
He was worth every single penny, and then some.
The Buffalo Bills had one of the very best offensive lines in football, protecting the franchise quarterback and helping establish the run, leading to the NFL’s best rushing attack. There’s one player in particular who was given a huge gift, and it’s immediately impacting his pocketbook.
Buffalo Bills starting guard O’Cyrus Torrence has been exceptional since joining the organization. The former second-round pick is entering his fourth year in the NFL, and all indications point to it not being his last with the team. He was one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the SEC, and he’s carried that dominance over to his career with the Bills.
He may have had his ups and downs, but Torrence is positioned well going into 2026, and his bank account just got a massive boost ahead of the upcoming season.
O’Cyrus Torrence set for another pay bump
Torrence is receiving $1,091,163 from the NFL as a performance-based payout, which ranks No. 17 in the league among all who are receiving the bonus. The program is designed to increase a player’s upcoming salary based on them out-playing their salary. Mid to late round draft picks on rookie contracts who start basically an entire season benefit the most from the reward.
Torrence played in over 1,200 snaps in the 2025 season. According to Pro Football Focus, he earned a 59.5 grade for his offense, a 53.7 for his run blocking, and a 64.4 for his pass blocking. Through 1,270 snaps, Torrence only allowed three sacks, one hit, and 32 hurries, all while giving up only two penalties. Out of all of his snaps, only three came outside of the right guard position.
He’s been as consistent as they come, having over 1,200 snaps in each of his first three seasons in the league, and has only allowed a total of six sacks, eight hits, and 113 hurries through 3,798 snaps.
As John Sheeran from A to Z Sports Cincinnati pointed out, the best part of all of this is that Buffalo doesn’t have to pay him for these raises. They’re off the hook for the over $1 million bonus.
It’s the kind of win that quietly speaks volumes about the foundation this team has built.
Torrence is earning every bit of recognition with his play, and the Bills are reaping the benefits without it costing them a dime against the cap. It’s a rare combination with high-level production from a young talent and financial flexibility to keep building around him.
If this is what Torrence looks like now, heading into year four, then Buffalo may have already have its long-term answer locked in on the interior. If he takes another step forward in 2026, that “bonus” might just end up being the cheapest part of what he’s truly worth to this team moving forward.
