The Buffalo Bills got some good news this offseason with the latest leak regarding the NFLPA’s report card grades. Buffalo wasn’t at the top; that spot was reserved once again for the Miami Dolphins, but it doesn’t mean that the team didn’t fare well in the most recent report.

The NFL Players Association conducts an annual survey of players across the league, seeing how all 32 franchises fare in a series of criteria as a team. It’s not to highlight the wins and losses, but instead how readily available resources are for the players in the organization.

Buffalo came in as the No. 16-ranked team in the NFL. The team received no A+ in any category, but had A’s for the weight room, strength coaches, and position coaches. Their only real bad mark was for the home game field. This has already been fixed, as in the new stadium, Buffalo is having new grass, not turf, so that grade should fix itself once the report cards come out for next season.

Again, these grades aren’t intended to be a performance review of the actual football program. Instead, they’re meant to highlight how supportive these environments are for players, which is why the survey is conducted by the NFLPA.

Let’s take a look at the remaining categories and how Buffalo fared.

Buffalo Bills NFLPA rankings for 2025 season

  • Treatment of families: B
  • Home game field: F
  • Food/dining area: B-
  • Nutritionist/dietician: B-
  • Locker room: B
  • Training room: B+
  • Weight room: A
  • Strength coaches: A
  • Position coaches: A
  • Offensive coordinator: A-
  • Defensive coordinator: B
  • Special teams coordinator: B+
  • Team travel: B-
  • Head coach: A-
  • General manager: A-
  • Team ownership: A-

What’s interesting is that former head coach Sean McDermott got quite the praise from his players with the report, earning an A-, which was the same grade as offensive coordinator Joe Brady, general manager Brandon Beane, and owner Terry Pegula.

What this ultimately shows is that while Buffalo may not be flashy off the field, it’s far from dysfunctional. Middle of the pack isn’t a disaster, especially when the leadership at the top continues to earn strong marks from the players who matter the most.

With a new stadium on the way and upgrades in motion, there’s a real chance this report card looks very different a year from now. And if the environment keeps improving while the on-field product remains competitive, that’s when you start talking about a truly elite organization from top to bottom.

For a franchise trying to get over the hump, that kind of alignment matters just as much as anything that happens on Sundays.

If you’re sad about the Bills’ ranking in the middle of the pack, the Dolphins got the No. 1 spot, and they have had a dumpster fire of an organization in terms of on-field production, be happy Buffalo is ranked where it is. No disrespect to the Dolphins, at least they’re not the New York Jets.
