Wide receiver Stefon Diggs claimed that the game was personal for him after the victory. It was a reunion in Buffalo, as this was the first time since Diggs forced himself to be traded away from the organization. Friendly reminder, Diggs himself wanted out of Buffalo, and made it very clear he was unhappy with his role on the team; it wasn’t just Buffalo shipping him away out of nowhere.

The Bills lost to the New England Patriots in Week 5, and outside of costly turnovers and a high number of penalties called against Buffalo, Diggs’ performance was another reason the Bills lost. The veteran receiver finished his day with 10 receptions for 146 yards.

While speaking to the media after the game, Diggs had a few choice words about quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills’ organization after the Patriots’ victory.

“Oh, you heard that? That’s my dog,” Diggs said. “Obviously, things happen, the business happens. I spent a lot of time here, and I got a lot of love and respect for that young man, he’s a tremendous player, he’s one of the boys. Obviously, things happen, and I’m not here no more, but, I consider myself a real one. I’m never gonna ‘If I’m not on a team no more, we’re not cool no more.’ We built a special bond, that was my guy. I’m not going to switch up or act like I didn’t have a lot of love or respect for that young man, so when I see him, I try to give him that reminder.”

Diggs even brought up the viral photo taken in the 2024 season, appearing to give Allen the stink eye in the postgame meet-up. Not doubting Diggs’ motives, but had the team lost, we doubt this would’ve even been a topic of conversation.

“Even last year, they had that picutre, right, of me side-eyeing him,” Diggs said. “They just kind of caught at the wrong time, I always wanted to speak on that photo. I was staring at him in the moment because it was like (expletive), that was my brother. Even Week 1 in Houston, that’s my brother, I do got a lot of love and respect for him. It kinda looked like a little side-eye but that’s not what it was, I was staring at him for a second when he was walking away like ‘damn, that was my guy.’

Allen and Diggs share much different postgame interaction

Diggs opened the game staring down the Bills players in warmups and said that the game was personal for him after the victory. However, in the postgame meeting with Allen in the middle of the field, it was all love between the two players.

The veteran forced his way out of Buffalo, which makes some of the comments a bit bizarre. Despite that, Diggs had plenty of good moments with the Bills outside of his unruly departure. In four seasons in Buffalo, Diggs totaled more than 5,000 yards receiving with 37 touchdowns.

Diggs got his moment, but his words rang hollow after the Bills’ loss, one that he helped make possible.
