The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins rivalry is alive and well after that wasn't the case for many years. The Dolphins have an explosive offense and an early-season-MVP candidate in Tua Tagovailoa while the Buffalo Bills have Josh Allen and a dominant defense that could test even the best offenses in the league.
Last year, Tagovailoa was balling out until a slew of unfortunate and devastating injuries sidelined him, cutting his season short. One of the injuries happened in a contest with the Buffalo Bills in which Matt Milano was labeled a "dirty player" for the hit on the Dolphins QB. (We don't think it was dirty.)
Another injury, a much worse instance, came during a contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, a moment fans across the NFL won't soon forget.
From that moment the Bills Mafia did what the fanbase does best, give back. Thousands of dollars were donated to Tua's charity, the Tua Foundation. Burt Trembly, executive director of the operation, thanked the fanbase and announced that over 1,000 donations had been brought in.
Tagovailoa doesn't want it lost to anyone he's incredibly grateful for the fanbase and how they gave back in a dark moment in his life. A video from last year has resurfaced with Tua thanking the fanbase for everything they did. While the team and fanbase want nothing more than to win, the perspective from previous comments is important and another indicator that the Dolphins may have found their franchise QB.
Tua started, "I also like to give a shoutout to the Bills Mafia, their fans. I remember when I had my concussion they started a whole ordeal of donating to my foundation. That hasn't been lost, I just want to throw that out and say that I really appreciate that."
While these comments were made last year, after the generous donations from the Bills Mafia, his sentiment is still the same. While we can't imagine the fanbase cheering him during such an intense rivalry, there will definitely be some smiling faces in the crowd.
