Bills get unexpected boost with potential wide receiver trade candidate, and Brandon Beane should be picking up the phone
Never say never, Bills Mafia.
The Buffalo Bills’ roster could look a bit different in the coming weeks with the trade deadline rapidly approaching. Bills Mafia hopes the team is a buyer, not a seller, with a few key positions of need heading into the deadline.
Obviously, the defensive backfield has some issues, and the team could use some help in the cornerback or safety room. However, one player who is tied to Buffalo doubled down on his trade request, giving the Bills an unexpected boost if they were hoping to acquire him.
We previously covered a potential trade between the Bills and Las Vegas Raiders for wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, and Meyers stood firm on the trade talks when speaking to the media. Put plainly, he wants out of Las Vegas, and general manager Brandon Beane should be picking up the phone. Meyers was speaking with ESPN reporter Ryan McFadden on a potential trade.
“I got no control over that,” Meyers said. “If I’m here, I’m here.”
That’s when the topic shifted to whether Meyers is still requesting a trade.
“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football.”
Meyers is tied to Buffalo from a CBS article by Jared Dubin, who broke down some potential trade candidates for the veteran pass catcher, linking him to Buffalo.
Jakobi Meyers is a familiar face for the Bills
Meyers is in the final season of his three-year, $33 million contract, which he signed in 2023. Throughout his career, he’s totaled 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Bills Mafia knows all too well the type of player Meyers is, with the pass-catcher spending time on the New England Patriots, facing Buffalo twice a year.
During his time with the Patriots, he faced Buffalo eight times, hauling in 25 catches for 241 yards and a touchdown.
Buffalo is dealing with some injuries to the receiver room, with Josh Palmer listed as week-to-week, but head coach Sean McDermott hasn’t ruled out placing him on injured reserve.
It’s the kind of move Bills Mafia would love, a proven former AFC East weapon ready to flip sides and help Josh Allen down the stretch. If the Raiders are listening, Beane should already be dialing.
