Leading up to Thursday’s season opener, many in the national media expected the banged-up Bills secondary to be vulnerable against Rams QB Matt Stafford.

With Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White (knee) beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list it was time for somebody to step up.

That somebody was CB Dane Jackson.

Jackson, who started in six games last season, fooled Stafford in the second quarter, which resulted in a crucial interception in the second quarter.

The throw could’ve been much better, but you can hear NBC’s Cris Collinsworth mention that Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier tricked Stafford.

Diving a little deeper, Jackson was playing cloud coverage on the interception. That means that he would be responsible for the Rams No. 2 option, who happened to be TE Tyler Higbee, if he runs an out within five yards.

It’s a promising start to the season for Jackson, who will be a vital piece to the Bills’ extremely talented secondary.
