The Buffalo Bills will be shorthanded on offense for the upcoming showdown against the Denver Broncos. On Monday, the team announced that wide receiver Gabe Davis would be out for the remainder of the season, and Tuesday’s update didn’t provide much more good news.

Head coach Sean McDermott revealed wide receiver Tyrell Shavers also tore his ACL in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Surprisingly, Shavers returned to the game and competed, which McDermott called “unbelievable.”

Tyrell Shavers is out for the season with a torn ACL

Shavers’ ability to block and his prowess on special teams have been elite this season. He hasn’t been given too many opportunities in the passing game, though he should have. Shavers officially ends his season with 15 receptions for 245 yards and a touchdown, while adding one catch for 14 yards in the postseason. Shavers played 22 snaps on a torn ACL.

“He embodies what we’re all about,” McDermott said.

Quarterback Josh Allen loses another option on offense at the worst possible time, just days before the divisional showdown against the Denver Broncos. Buffalo has plenty of question marks at receiver, with not a lot of time to find any answers.

McDermott shared an update on the health of the Buffalo Bills

One of the names to keep an eye out for is the availability of wide receiver Curtis Samuel. The Bills opened Samuel’s 21-day practice window, so he could compete as early as Saturday. Buffalo will desperately need the bodies at receiver, considering the losses to Shavers and Davis.

If Samuel can’t play, Buffalo could be looking at starting two practice-squad receivers in a must-win matchup, a less-than-ideal update on Tuesday for the fan base. The Bills now have three healthy receivers on the roster, putting the team in a difficult position.

All eyes will now be on how Buffalo adjusts on the fly because with the stakes this high, there’s little room for error and even less time to fix it.
