No matter which player you have at the top, there is no question that Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are the NFL’s best two quarterbacks currently going.
Allen’s Buffalo Bills enacted their revenge in the form of a 24-20 win on the road against Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in a Week 6 showdown.
While it’s easy to get caught up in the moment, these two gunslingers are building what could be the greatest non-divisional rivalry of all time.
Football fans have been blessed by a handful of these rivalries in the past, but Allen vs Mahomes is on pace to pass the bar previously set by Steve Young vs Troy Aikman, and Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning.
Kyle Brandt of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football wasn’t afraid to compare the best rivalry currently going to those historic battles of years past.
“Allen-Mahomes is so much better, its way better. It doesn’t look like they’re playing the sport. As much as I appreciate Brady and Manning, they look like dinosaurs,” said Brandt.
It’s hard to believe that Allen is just 26-years-old. All week leading up to this rematch from last season’s AFC Divisional Round heart-breaker, members of the media, including Brandt, attempted to get Allen to say that this game carries more meaning.
He wouldn’t do it.
There will be plenty of Super Bowls between these two whenever they choose to call it a career. Mahomes has one at age 27, but after Sunday’s big win, the road to Super Bowl LVII looks like it will run through Buffalo.
