Carolina Panthers great Cam Newton recently revealed he met and talked with current quarterback Bryce Young on the Club Shay Shay podcast, hosted by Shannon Sharpe.

Newton claims he gave Young some much-needed advice that could make all the difference during his second season in the NFL.

"He needs to understand that voicing his opinion is important," Newton said. "You have to. Every offensive coordinator asks their quarterback this question: Game on the line, 3rd-and-four, 3rd-and-eight, got to have it situation, who would you prefer to throw the football to? He needs to have those answers for that. Bryce needs to be open to doing that."

Giving his opinion clearly wasn't Young's strong suit during his rookie season.

With the additions of Damien Lewis and Robert Hunt, the Panthers finally got serious about protecting Young from the onslaught of pass rushers in the NFL.

Through a trade, Carolina added wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who became the best receiver on the Panthers' roster without even playing a game.

Then there is the draft, which Carolina has shown its hand as to wanting to draft an elite wide receiver talent.

A lot is riding on Young's second season. Newton, through a conversation with the 22-year-old quarterback, gave Young words of wisdom that will make all the difference in his second season.
