Bryce Young is yet to have a great game in the NFL.

For those drafted after him, namely CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson, those same struggles aren't the case.

Still, Young is four weeks into his NFL career, and he is winless. In the Week 4 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Young connected on 25 of his 32 passing attempts. He racked up 204 yards. But he didn't throw a single touchdown pass, and the offense he led didn't find the endzone once. It now begs the question: Did the Panthers make the wrong move trading a top receiver and future draft capital for a quarterback who has yet to show exactly why he was worth the No. 1 pick?

“Just frustrated at myself,” Young said after the game. “[There is] Definitely stuff I want back. At the same time, [I] have to do a better job of being that same guy on the sideline. Sometimes, emotion comes out, and you then you got to go to the next play. And again, for better or for worse, do a better job of keeping that stone face, regardless.”

Where Young struggled in Sunday's matchup was holding on to the ball too long and fumbling when he was hit.

Devastation struck late in the third quarter when Young was strip-sacked and the Vikings defense returned it to the endzone to take the lead. The Panthers offense, already wayward at best, looked lifeless in the series following.

Turnovers have been Young's M.O. through his three career starts. If he is going to succeed at the NFL level, that needs to change. The good thing is he knows it.

“Obviously, turning the ball over is something we talk about a lot,” he added. “That was a huge, huge swing of the game. And, again, that solely, single-handedly on me.”

Young was sacked five times. He averaged 6.4 yards per throw. The Panthers regressed back to the shell of the offense they were running the week before Andy Dalton took over. And the cherry on top was that Panthers head coach Frank Reich admitted to calling a play for Adam Thielen when he wasn't even on the field.

This team is a disaster. Reich can talk about being close, but it is just coach speak. This team is far from being close to good, and that won't change unless Young turns into a better quarterback.

For a frame of reference, Stroud in a Houston Texans win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Richardson almost won in comeback fashion over the LA Rams, throwing for 200 yards and claiming three total touchdowns.

Young hasn't had a game like that at the NFL level. And though it's still early, the longer he goes without putting together at least one solid game, the more questions arise regarding whether the Panthers made a mistake.
