For what promises to be a difficult matchup with the Dallas Cowboys — the Carolina Panthers are looking to use it as an opportunity to reverse course.

With Panthers coach Frank Reich on the hot seat, team ownership desperately wants to see some form of improvement in Week 11. That means the Panthers plan to utilize Sunday's game as a chance to measure just how far they need to improve against one of the best teams in the league.

"Things have not been goin’ well for us as a team," Reich said. "It’s an opportunity. It’s a great opportunity to go up and prove that we’re a good football team.”

The Panthers are far from being a "good football team," as Reich suggests. With a `1-8 record, it would take a miracle turnaround for the Panthers to be average on paper.

But, it is something Reich has to say. In more ways than one, his job is on the line. Ownership wants to see improvement, and a close game against the Cowboys could buy Reich and his regime more time.

“We beat one good football team, we need to beat another good football team,” Reich said. "This team [Cowboys] is hot. They have a lot of firepower on offense. They have some big-time playmakers on defense. They’re good in all three phases. They’re a well-coached team and they have a lot of firepower. It’s a great challenge for us."

A challenge Reich and his staff can't afford to come up small in.
