Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown got what he rightfully deserved – finally.
The NFL announced Friday that Brown will be in the 2024 Pro Bowl, replacing Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald, who can't participate because of an injury.
It is an award that was a long time coming for Brown, who enjoyed a career year in 2023 despite the Panthers' 2-15 record.
“You can look at the sacks. You can look at the pressures. I don’t really care,” Brown said to The Athletic in December. “If you don’t see I’m a game-wrecker, then I don’t know what to tell you.”
The defensive tackle, in his game-wrecking season, set a new record for most tackles with 103. He also managed to lead all defensive linemen in stops.
He was initially listed as an alternate on the Pro Bowl roster, but the injury to Donald gives him a chance to showcase what he can do in the Pro Bowl.
The game will be played Feb. 1.
