Baker Mayfield enjoyed a career resurgence during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before his time in Tampa, Mayfield played for the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers and eventually the Los Angeles Rams.

His time in Charlotte was short-lived and inconsequential. It almost ended his career. But after a career year with Tampa Bay, Mayfield is in a position to send shots at the Panthers, and he isn't holding back.

"It starts top-down,” Mayfield said while on First Things First recently. "When you have a lot of voices going on behind the scenes, you’re making distractions for your players. You’re not putting them in a good position to have success and play free. So for me, getting to Tampa – it was refreshing.”

Now, Mayfield never directly said the Panthers were the problem. But anyone can put two-and-two together and arrive at the same outcome.

Mayfield's unsuccessful tenure with the Panthers was a product of the former Matt Rhule-led regime. The offensive was clunky and ineffective, and Mayfield didn't have enough talent around him to make things work.

Part of that blame also falls on David Tepper, who has built a reputation around the NFL as a team owner who meddles in team operations far too much.

With Mayfield, that was the case. With Bryce Young now, that is no different. So it comes as no surprise that Mayfield is sending subliminal shots at the franchise that almost ruined his career.
