Life isn't perfect for the Buffalo Bills, and a former Carolina Panthers coach took the fall for it.

The Bills relieved offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, announced by the team on Tuesday morning. Dorsey was a former quarterback coach with the Panthers.

For the Bills, a team that was expected to be in the upper echelon of the NFL, underperformance needed someone to blame. Dorsey was the name that came first.

Dorsey got his start in coaching with the Panthers behind the scenes. He was a pro scout for Carolina for two years. In 2011, he was hired as the team's quarterback coach, which lasted from 2013 to 2017. Not a bad run.

Under Dorsey's tutelage, the team quarterback Cam Newton won league MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Newton also led the Panthers to three division titles. Again, not too shabby.

The Dorsey plan didn't work with Josh Allen, who can't stay away from turnovers. But, the team isn't going to assess the blame where it belongs: its franchise quarterback. Instead, it is Dorsey who takes the blame.

For the Bills, only time will tell if it makes a difference.
