When the Carolina Panthers signed Jadeveon Clowney, the 31-year-old immediately started recruiting.
And that is good news.
Clowney, in speaking to local media Friday, admitted he is already attempting to recruit Stephon Gilmore, the former Panthers cornerback, to join him in Charlotte and play for the Panthers again.
"I'm gonna try to get him to pull up, too," Clowney said of recruiting Gilmore via Joseph Person of The Athletic.
Clowney also admitted to reporters that Gilmore is "trying" to make his return to Charlotte soon.
Gilmore played for the Panthers for part of the 2021 season before a short stint with the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys from 2022 to 2023.
The Panthers need a cornerback, and Gilmore has played well into his 30s. Though Carolina is rebuilding, the addition of Gilmore could stabilize the secondary and add another veteran presence to a young locker room.
Plus, it makes for a great story: the prodigal son returns. Who wouldn't love that tale?
