Panthers QB Bryce Young is finally doing exactly what Dave Canales desperately needs him to
Dave Canales had nothing but good things to say about Bryce Young operating the offense.
As mandatory offseason workouts continue, Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales is impressed with how second-year quarterback Bryce Young is handling the offense.
On Tuesday, Canales sang Young's praises – gushing about his high-level operation of the former offensive coordinator's system.
"Today was, by far, his best day just operating the offense," Canales said of Young's progression. "As far as getting out of the huddle, getting to the line of scrimmage, moving the shifts and motions, using the cadence, figuring problems out with the protections, this was a fantastic day for Bryce in understanding what we’re trying to get done."
Young is already forming a connection with Diontae Johnson. The second-year quarterback scored a touchdown on a pass to Johnson but was picked off on the subsequent play.
The Panthers' success is predicated on Young being the best version of himself.
Carolina invested in the wide receiver group and added a playmaker at the tight end position. Even the hiring of Canales was central to building a successful environment for Young moving forward.
As for the Panthers' future, Canales likes where the offense is heading with Young at the helm.
