After a mysterious injury that caused Bryce Young to miss a matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, questions bloomed regarding his toughness.

In the weeks that followed, Young hasn't missed any time and his play has featured some glimpses but also some blunders. However, out of the bye week and heading into a matchup with C.J. Stroud, Frank Reich attempted to put to rest any questions surrounding Young's toughness.

"There's zero question in my mind about Bryce Young's toughness," Reich said. "I didn't question it in the draft process, just because of the way he handled himself in his college career. But I can just tell you this: Six games into it, physical and mental toughness, he checks that box big time."

Young thus far has been a mixed-bag quarterback. He has thrown for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions.

His best games came against the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins in the two weeks leading up to the bye week.

He has an opportunity to prove himself against Stroud, who has gotten a litany of press for outplaying Young through the first seven weeks of the NFL season.

"I think that (toughness) is going to continue to grow and demonstrate itself," Reich said. "I'm sure he's never experienced anything like an 0-6 start. But the way he's handled that – the resolve and the determination you can see in his eyes and you can feel in his demeanor – is the way you would expect someone with his toughness and competitiveness to handle it."

High praise from Reich. Now it is time to see if Young can live up to it.
