There aren't many stats Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young leads the league in.

But, there is at least one.

Young is the most accurate passer to wide-open receivers on passes of at least five yards or more, according to According to Football Insights.

The only downside of that stat is that Young doesn't have many throws that fit the criteria because Panthers pass-catchers have struggled to get open all season.

Telling is the stat that suggests no Panthers pass-catcher creates more than 3.3 yards of separation.

Next Gen Stats crunched the numbers, this is what they came down to: Hayden Hurst (3.2), Terrace Marshall Jr. (3.1), Adam Thielen (2.9), DJ Chark (2.5), and Jonathan Mingo (2.1). How is Young supposed to push the ball downfield when none of those who catch passes get open?

Don't ask head coach Frank Reich about it, however. The newly not-so-newly play-caller believes the Panthers have the receivers to win football games. He said as much last week.

“I think we’re making plays, getting open enough,” he said.

But that struggle to get open has defined Young's rookie year, which has been one forgettable in every respect.

Still, if there is a consolation prize, it is Young leading the league in a stat that somehow also shows how limited his receivers have been on the field.
