If there is one thing that needs to improve from game one of the preseason to game two for the Carolina Panthers, it is offensive line play.

Rookie quarterback Bryce Young took several hard hits that limited his production. When Matt Corral checked in, it was much of the same. Following the game, the offensive line met for a private meeting where they discussed everything that went wrong, but the particulars of the meeting were withheld from the public.

And on Tuesday, James Campen, the Panthers' offensive line coach, detailed what he expects from his position group moving forward.

"Improvement," Campen said. "Doing the things that they know they can do and doing them well. And being fundamentally sound."

Campen has watched the film from Saturday's loss, and from it, he said that he needs to see the offensive line get back to fundamentals.

"Fundamentals," Campen said. "I mean, we were assignment sure. There wasn't any hesitation and making the right declarations and those things, so those are positives somewhere in the negatives. But it was fundamental football. Pad level to hand placement to those types of things. Fundamentals creeped up on us."

And come Friday, Campen wants to see the fundamentals he stressed in film brought to fruition on the field.

"But just being fundamentally sound and being aggressive and fly around and really have fun," Campen said.

"Sometimes you overcoach things. I sat there and I told the guys, hey look, I probably sat there and harped on holding calls, and let's not do any of that stuff. And sometimes that can become a negative. It's like, turn me loose. Take the handcuffs off. Let me go play."
