Daewood Davis was carted off the field at Monday’s training camp practice with an injury.
Wide receiver Daewood Davis, the UFL standout and Carolina Panthers final roster hopeful was carted off the field at practice on Monday morning, according to multiple reports.
Davis was attacking the defense on a crossing route before getting tangled up with a teammate, leading to his injury. After practice, Panthers head coach Dave Canales revealed it was a thigh injury.
It is a brutal turn of events for Davis, 25, who played spring football in the UFL with the Memphis Showboats.
During the 2024 season, he earned All-UFL honors, catching 41 passes for 446 yards and five touchdowns on 70 targets in 10 games.
He played for Oregon from 2017 to 2020 and Western Kentucky from 2021 to 2022 but went undrafted in 2023. He signed with the Miami Dolphins. An injury ended his rookie NFL season before it got going. He injured his head and neck against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the preseason.
Davis' injury led to the suspension of the game.
It is a difficult series of events for Davis who appears to have a real shot at making the Panthers' 53-man roster.
