The Bryce Young era didn't start as planned for the Carolina Panthers Sunday.

Young turned the ball over twice, part of a three-turnover day for the Panthers, in a 24-10 drubbing to the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

After the game, Panthers Frank Reich, though disappointed, isn't necessarily all too worried about how his team played.

"We had a lot of good things," Reich said. "We just hurt ourselves a few times. That's not good enough."

When the Panthers weren't turning the ball over, Reich said he was comfortable with how the offense was moving the ball. He also was pleased with how Young played, though Young said he didn't play particularly well.

Though the Panthers may have moved the ball well for portions of the game, turnovers were still a part of the on-field action that couldn't be ignored.

The first turnover came late in the first quarter when the Panthers had the ball on the 8-yard-line on 2nd-and-16. Young's pass was intended for Hayden Hurst, but it was picked off at the Carolina 20-yard-line before being returned to the 3.

Atlanta would score on the next drive.

Young's second interception came in the third quarter, with the Panthers leading 10-7. With the ball on Carolina's 40-yard-line, Young's pass was intercepted at Atlanta's 49-yard-line. The Falcons went on to score a field goal to tie the game.

The Panthers wouldn't come close to scoring the rest of the game.

Young had only two games in 27 college starts with two interceptions: the 2021 national championship game against Georgia and in 2022 against Louisiana-Monroe.

Reich may not be worried about the offensive, but if Young keeps throwing interceptions in critical moments, it will be difficult for the Panthers' decent-looking offense to get off the ground the rest of the way.
