Frank Reich is an optimistic head coach.
Despite the Carolina Panthers' 42-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Reich was impressed with how his team jumped out to a 14-0 lead.
He let as much be known in his post-game press conference, where he also explained that, regardless of the 0-6 start, "anything" is still possible.
“There’s positive things to build on,” Reich said. "We got 11 games left,” he said. “Anything can happen. Anything can happen. You just come back and get better. That’s what I think we all know in our room."
Panthers quarterback Bryce Young echoed a similar sentiment after the game, saying that the team has to "build on the good."
Which, if paying attention to how the team has played in recent weeks, has been quite evident.
Young played well in the second half against the Detroit Lions. He then carried that over to the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins, where he led two touchdown drives.
Now, for the Panthers, it comes down to finding a way to build sustainability. The jury is still out on that, but Reich believes the best moments are coming.
"I think that’s what we all believe," Reich said. "If you commit to getting better and you commit to hanging together, we can do some damage. We can win football games. We can win a lot of football games. So, that’s what we’ll do.”
For a team off to its worst start since 1998, that sure is a hot take.
