Rashaad Penny's time in Charlotte was probably just long enough for one cup of coffee.

On Tuesday morning, Penny was placed on the reserve/retired list – bringing an abrupt end to what was a short-lived Carolina Panthers tenure for the running back.

Penny, 28, played for Panthers head coach Dave Canales when he was in Seattle.

His signing in May indicated that Canales was attempting to bring in some familiar names. Penny didn't even make it through the first two weeks of training camp.

Penny played five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and one season with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 45 games, he ran for 1,951 yards and 13 touchdowns.

To fill his roster spot, the Panthers signed wide receiver Tayvion Robinson. An undrafted rookie from Kentucky, he was in Baltimore Ravens camp earlier this spring. Robinson was on the field Tuesday morning, according to multiple reports.
