The Carolina Panthers are reportedly showing interest in signing a defender that has a previous connection to head coach Frank Reich.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Panthers are set to work out defensive tackle Khalil Davis this week.
Davis is a former sixth-round pick out of Nebraska who has bounced around the NFL and the USFL over the last couple of years.
The former Nebraska standout spent part of the 2021 season with the Indianapolis Colts where he played under Reich.
Davis, who will turn 27 before the start of the 2023 season, appeared in two games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and one game with the Colts in 2021 (per Pro Football Reference).
If the Panthers sign Davis, he'd likely serve as depth during training camp for Carolina (teams need plenty of bodies during training camp).
