Carolina Panthers are expected to sign a player that they worked out on Tuesday and he happens to be a former All-Pro.
Second chances don’t always come in the NFL, but that’s what running back Tarik Cohen just received from the Panthers. Cohen is expected to sign with the Panthers following a successful workout. The news was put out there by Cohen’s wife on Instagram.

After being a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Cohen spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears. His best season came in 2018 when he was first first-team All-Pro with 444 rushing yards, and 725 receiving yards — he also led the NFL with 411 punt return yards.
Unfortunately in 2020, Cohen suffered a torn ACL and MCL, as well as a tibial plateau fracture just three games into the season. Cohen was set to return in 2022 but ruptured his Achilles during a workout. The Bears released him back in March with an injury designation.
It would be hard to expect Cohen to be the same player after such tough injuries to come back from, but even making it back to the NFL is a great story after all of that. At this time, it is unclear if this is a practice squad signing or to the active roster.
Cohen will get to go back home, as he hails from Bunn, North Carolina, and attended college at North Carolina A&T.
A feel-good story for a player that has worked his tail off to get another chance in the NFL is here.
