The Carolina Panthers are looking to make a move for a top-tier wide receiver.
So, naturally, the trade rumors started swirling.
However, recently, Pro Football Focus named five realistic wide receiver trades the Panthers could make ahead of the trade deadline at the end of the month.
The names on the list include Jerry Jeudy, who the Panthers are reportedly sniffing around about, Courtland Sutton, Las Vegas’ Hunter Renfrow, Chicago’s Darnell Mooney, and Arizona’s Marquise Brown.
Pro Football Focus also suggests that if the Panthers plan to make a deal for a flashy No. 1 overall receiver, they will have to address the elephant in the room — Brian Burns.
To gain something, a team has to give something up. And for the Panthers, giving something up means moving on from the star outside linebacker who they have failed to ink to a long-term contract.
"If Carolina wants to make a splash for a true No. 1 wideout without giving up any remaining first- or second-round draft picks through 2025, sending edge defender Brian Burns in the deal is the clearest path forward. Burns is playing in 2023 on a $16.012 million fifth-year option, so he’s owed about $11.5 million for the rest of the season, with that number reducing by about $900,000 each week until just before the deadline when a team would inherit an $8.89 million salary."
So as expected, the Panthers will most likely need to deal Burns if the plan is to get a star receiver in return.

As the Carolina Panthers continue a search for a true playmaking wide receiver, a name that has popped up recently is Jerry Jeudy of the Denver Broncos.
