Everyone knows how bad Bryce Young's 2023 season was.
But a recent ranking put it into no uncertain terms that Young was one of the worst rookie quarterbacks in recent memory.
NFL analyst Warran Sharp put out a ranking on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, of "worst rookie quarterbacks since 2000." Young, on that list, came in at No. 33 of 33, making his rookie year one of the worst in recent NFL history.
Ranked ahead of Young were names like Blaine Gabbert, DeShone Kizer, Blake Bortles, David Carr, Chris Weinke and Joey Harrington.
None of those quarterbacks went on to become household names for good reason.
But that doesn't mean Young will follow in their footsteps. The Panthers, in firing Frank Reich, hiring Dave Canales, and bringing in new-look general manager Dan Morgan, desperately want to make Young a great quarterback.
The Panthers showed their investment in the second-year quarterback by trading for former Pittsburgh Steelers 1,000-yard receiver Diontae Johnson and adding two big offensive linemen in Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis.
This Panthers offense is going to be unrecognizable. Now it falls on the shoulders of Young to return that investment. And there is no reason he can't.
He was the No. 1 pick out of Alabama because of his ability to make magic happen on the field. With the right weapons, and the Panthers still have the draft to add more, Young could live up to his first-pick status in year two.

Getting the most out of Bryce Young is Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales’ main job.
