Week 8 has a lot riding on it for Bryce Young.
He is facing the Houston Texans in a duel for quarterback supremacy.
Young was drafted No. 1 overall and C.J. Stroud, the Texans quarterback, was taken at No. 2. Stroud has outplayed Young through the first seven weeks of the season, but that may change. At least the Panthers hope so.
The only bad news is, the odds aren't in Young's favor.
Young's Panthers have been given a 36.9% chance of winning the matchup, according to ESPN FPI.
Stroud's Texans are given a 62.8% chance of victory, according to ESPN.
It probably doesn't help that Young hasn't won a game in his NFL career to this point. In fact, many of those contests haven't been close.
However, in recent weeks, Young has seen some improvement. In a simplified offense, he has found a consistent rhythm for drives at a time. And with the change in play-calling duties, the best of Young's rookie season may still be yet to come.
Stroud has impressed out of the gate. He has thrown for 1,660 yards and nine touchdowns. He only has one interception on his record.
Young will look to right the ship Sunday at 1 p.m.
