Chicago Bears agree to deal with underrated free agent
The Chicago Bears got in on free agent action as soon as the legal tampering period started on Monday
The Chicago Bears didn't waste any time getting to work on Monday when the legal tampering period got underway.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears are signing former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker TJ Edwards to a free agent deal (reminder: deals can't become official until the new league year officially begins on Wednesday).
Edwards, a Lake Villa, IL native, is a former undrafted free agent who spent the first four years of his career with the Eagles.
The former Wisconsin standout is coming off a season in which he totaled 159 tackles and two sacks. Edwards also had six tackles and a pass defensed in Super Bowl LVII.
According to Rapoport, Chicago's deal with Edwards is worth $19.5 million over three years. $12 million of the contract is guaranteed.
