Highly respected draft expert Daniel Jeremiah raised some eyebrows with his latest comments regarding what the Chicago Bears might do with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Jeremiah joined NFL Network’s Peter Schrager on his podcast The Season with Peter Schrager for their annual mock draft episode. When the pair arrived at the ninth pick, Jeremiah mentioned a player that is guaranteed to polarize the fanbase.

That player is Texas running back Bijan Robinson.

“Somebody told me don't sleep on Bijan with [Chicago] either,” Jeremiah said.

“I think that the Bijan thing is, even though they've got some backs they can line up and play with they don't have anybody like him. So that would be one I wouldn't sleep on with them,” Jeremiah added.

Jeremiah is one of the most well-connected draft experts in the business. He has conversations with general managers across the league on a daily basis and his mock draft is one of the most respected in NFL circles.

He went on to predict Chicago will take Oregon CB Christian Gonzalez, but it was clear he was wrestling with the decision. The Bears signed running backs D’Onta Foreman and Travis Homer in free agency to pair with Khalil Herbert and Travis Ebner to round out the position group.

While Foreman and Herbert have experience leading an NFL backfield, the upside with Robinson is impossible to ignore. Though the running back position is one of the most devalued roles in football, Robinson has the ability to turn Chicago’s backfield into one of the best in the league.
