When it comes to the Chicago Bears receivers, a good chunk of the recent conversation has centered around newcomer D.J. Moore, and deservedly so.

Darnell Mooney, the Bears' former No. 1 receiver, has sort of become lost in the shuffle. That's to no fault of his own, however. People are fawning over Moore because of his previous run in Carolina – which was a very successful one, at that. And, Mooney is recovering from an ankle injury that cut his 2022 season short. He hasn't been able to get on the practice field this offseason, which obviously lessens the attention he'd normally receive.

Well, that will change by the time training camp rolls around, because head coach Matt Eberflus expects Mooney to be ready to go by the end of July.

"Darnell's working his tail off and he's right on track," Eberflus told reporters Wednesday. "We anticipate him going as soon as possible. He's gonna have a great summer – I know he's really amped up to get ready for training camp.

"Barring any setbacks, he'll be ready. Darnell will be ready for that."

That's obviously great news for the Bears. The receiver room looks 100x better than it did at this point last year and that's a testament to Ryan Poles' ability to bring in talent that should really elevate the offense in 2023.

The Bears will have mandatory minicamp next week before taking a few weeks off. Once the end of July rolls around, we will be able to see Justin Fields and his full compliment of weapons on display.
