The tides appear to be turning in the NFL’s oldest rivalry between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

Respect is earned, not given in the NFL. The Packers sure have earned the respect of the Bears, whether the fanbase will admit it or not. After all, the Bears have won just three of the past 26 meetings.

But that’s aside from the point.

Sure, Chicago has work to do on the field, but the Bears’ offseason moves have certainly garnered the respect of the folks down in the desert. In fact, BetMGM lists the Bears (-2.5) as the current betting favorites for the Week 1 showdown between the NFC North foes.

While there are still a handful of questions yet to be answered from Bears QB Justin Fields, he is far more proven than Packers QB Jordan Love. Bears general manager Ryan Poles surround Fields with the tools necessary to put together a career year in his second season under offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

Though preseason odds entail plenty of assumptions, the oddsmakers typically get these things right. The Bears know they have to flip the script in the rivalry with Aaron Rodgers finally out of the equation. While it might still be May, these odds are a clear indication that the expectation for Chicago are to finally reverse a trend that has lasted for the better part of three decades.
