The 2024 WNBA Draft was a major hit on social media on Monday, with a draft class that was headlined by Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark being selected with the first overall pick in the draft by the Indiana Fever.

After the Fever got the party started, another top market team took over social media: the Chicago Sky.

The Sky had two draft picks in the first round, the third and seventh overall selections. All in all, the city of Chicago welcomed three new stars by the end of the night and a few players on the Chicago Bears roster went out of their way to show their support.

The Sky created an unbelievable pairing in the first round, who alone created a lot of hype for the team going forward. With the third overall pick, the Sky selected South Carolina center Kamilla Cardoso, the top ranked center in the class. Cardoso helped lead the Gamecocks to a National Championship win and a perfect season against Clark and the Hawkeyes. Cardoso scored 15 points and had 17 rebounds in the win.

That alone would be have been a great start to the draft, and then the Sky made it even better by selecting LSU's forward Angel Reese with the seventh overall pick, who's a national champion, three-time All-American, and SEC conference player of the year herself.

The Sky made their final selection of the draft to kick of the second round by selecting Gonzaga's guard Brynna Maxwell with the 13th overall pick. Maxwell played five seasons of college basketball and was widely known for her three point ability, hitting the sixth-most 3-pointers in the country during her final season. Pairing a pure shooter with Cardoso and Reese definitely put a jolt into the franchise going forward.

Following the draft, both members of the Bears' new safety tandem on defense took to social media to voice their support for the new stars arriving in Chicago. Jaquan Brisker posted "Chicago Lit!" on his social media while Kevin Byard noted that he will "have to check out some [Chicago Sky] games this year" with his family.

Even the Bears potential number one pick, quarterback Caleb Williams, got in on the action by liking a tweet made by the Sky's official social media account showing off their first two selections of the opening round.

The Bears themselves will be making two first round selections in the 2024 NFL Draft next week with many fully expecting the team to select Williams with the first overall pick. Then, the team will be back on the clock with the ninth overall selection. It's an exciting time to be a sports fan in Chicago with these new stars coming to town.
