There has been plenty of buzz lately regarding the Chicago Bears plans for the No. 9 overall draft pick.
The Bears could stay put and draft a top offensive line prospect if they so choose, but the latest report suggests Chicago could be on the move again.
On Tuesday, Dave Kaplan confirmed a report stating that the Bears are aiming to trade back from the No. 9 overall pick.
“Folks, I’ve made a lot of calls today to NFL sources that I have in the league and media types that cover it,” Kaplan said. “They’re all telling me the exact same thing that Jeff Hughes from DaBearsBlog, which is a great follow on Twitter, … and he tweeted, I don’t know about a week ago, that the Bears’ preference remains to trade out of pick No. 9.”
Kaplan went on to add that Chicago will have to find the proper situation in order to pull off a move that would yield the Bears even more draft capital.
“Now the right deal has to present itself,” Kaplan continued. “The right player has to be on the board that someone wants to come off and get, but that's what he reported. I made a bunch of calls and I'm hearing the exact same thing doesn't mean it's going to happen, but it means that is their preference.”
The Bears would likely wait until draft night to make a move, but if GM Ryan Poles feels as if the team can move back and still select a player who is capable of making an instant impact in 2023 there should be no hesitation to do so.
