The Chicago Bears announced a slew of roster decisions on Saturday that won't be in the Bears favor for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Starting safety Eddie Jackson has been ruled out with a foot injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Buccaneers. The team also announced that they have placed linebacker Khalid Kareem on injured reserve with a hip injury.
The team has already been hit hard with multiple injuries this season and it keeps getting worse. Kareem's addition to the injured reserve now brings the team's total to five players on the list.
Jackson was initially listed as doubtful on the team's official injury report that was released following Friday's practice. The 29-year-old was carted to the locker room during last week's game in Tampa Bay.
Kareem was limited in practice on Thursday and did not participate on Friday due to his hip injury. The third-year pro has yet to make his Bears' debut this season and will now be forced to miss a minimum of four games.
At safety, the Bears will have to rely on Elijah Hicks, who entered the game in place of Jackson against the Buccaneers, to defend against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs' offense.
In corresponding moves, defensive back A.J. Thomas and defensive lineman Daniel Hardy have been elevated from the Bears practice squad to the game day roster.
Thomas spent his first season with the Bears after going undrafted in 2022. The 24-year-old mainly appeared on special teams in a handful of games as a rookie. Hardy will be a new face if he steps onto the field for the Bears, after spending last season with the Los Angeles Rams.
