The Chicago Bears are a much different team today than they were a year ago.

Many solid veterans were brought in this offseason, and the team's 2023 draft class also looks to have some playmakers. Additionally, many expect quarterback Justin Fields to take another step forward in 2023 after an impressive sophomore season.

Count one of the big free agent signings as one who is a big believer in Fields.

T.J. Edwards signed a three-year, $19.5M deal with the Bears back in March. The veteran linebacker is a tackling machine and is expected to man the Will linebacker spot.

Recently, Edwards was asked about Fields' performance this offseason and provided a glowing review.

"Dude has such a strong arm and has been very accurate at OTAs and minicamp," explained Edwards. "I'm really excited to play with a guy like that. A guy who can make all the plays and lead this team. He's definitely the guy."

Edwards pointing out the QB's arm strength and accuracy will be music to Bears fans ears. Edwards has been a member of some very good Eagles teams, so he knows what a successful team looks like.

It appears Fields now has the confidence of a leader, and it will be interesting to see how that translates on the field.

Fields finished the 2022 season completing 60.4% of his passes for 2,242 yards and 17 passing TDs. In addition to his improved passing numbers, Fields also led all NFL QBs in rushing yards with 1,143. The young QB also ran for eight TDs, behind only Jalen Hurts who had 13.

This dual-threat ability was noted by Edwards when he proclaimed that Fields "can make all the plays." It's incredible to see the defense believing in their QB. Fields will need all the help he can get to bring this Bears team back to relevance.
